IE China Club Amber Quartet Concert

Written on July 24, 2014 by Campus Life in Geographic

RDR_6994 China has always been well known for its typical cultural musical performance with Chinese traditional instruments, however during recent years, no one could perceive that one young Chinese chamber music performance group, the Amber Quartet, was emerging to shine on the global stage. As chamber music was traditionally perceived as a typical European classic musical performance, no one was expecting the Chinese group Amber Quartet could outstand and finally won one of the most important international awards. In the year of 2013, they won the Grand Prize in the Asia-Pacific Chamber Music Competition, which made them the first Chinese chamber music group to win such prize. Composed of four members, they performed around the world on behalf of the top music criterion of China, their footprints spread all over concert halls of Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Denmark, USA, Australia, Japan and Korea.

During this year, as they are now studying abroad at the Queen Sofia College of Music in Madrid, so our IE China Club took the big advantage of this amazing news and invited this outstanding musician group to perform in IE Business School.

Even we are now having the best business studying environment in Spain at IE, there should be some moments that we should pull ourselves back and don’t forget to keep dreaming with music and art. With this idea, after months of communication and preparation, an exclusive concert of chamber music was carried out with the help of the Amber Quartet, and it lightened up the air of IE campus. Inside the exquisite building of the Paper Pavilion, Both IE students, alumnus and faculty members enjoyed a great performance from the Amber Quartet.

The audience enjoyed every moment of the concert, and didn’t want to leave even after the encore performance. After the performance, the Amber Quartet members also joined the IE community for a cocktail on the terrace in front of the Paper Pavilion, therefore the joyful communication for both sides gave a perfect ending to this concert event.
