IE Equestrian Club Competition in Green Paddock Hipica

Written on July 24, 2014 by Campus Life in Social, Sports

The IE Equestrian Club organized their first Competition outside the stables in Green Paddock Hipica and Golf on June 7th 2014. The IE equestrian club competition day was created to attract not only riders but also spectators who wanted a venue for the weekend to sit enjoy a drink while experiencing first hand what an equestrian competition vibe is all about.

The day started with competitors arriving at the stables to upload the horses onto the trailer to arrive at the venue. A challenge is to not forget any apparatus so check, check and double check!! Those who are not competing go to the competition ground straight, it was funny to see those who had no prior contact with the horses to interact with them feeding them carrots from their hands feeling vulnerable to the timid creatures. Competing members walked the course with their trainer in order to see the circuit they will be competing in and how to tackle the challenging obstacles and defining turns.

Starting to warm up the horse in the practice arena, with only spectators helping competitors by holding their competition jackets and taking many photos. Once it was the turn of the competitor, IE equestrian club members cheered on vividly making sure the rider could hear and give them the boost of confidence they needed.

Towards the end of the day the all members came to the cooling arena to give support for the performance of the riders as well as see the horses one last time. A successful day especially because a rider of 13 years that had lost 3 of her horses and refused to mount another horse after the unfortunate incident went back on the back of horse after 3 years of not riding.
