IE Swiss Club Fondue

Written on March 2, 2015 by Campus Life in Geographic, Social

swiss1For the second time in five months the IE Swiss Club organised the traditional FONDUE in the restaurant La Fondue de Tell. It was a complete success! Forty-five students enjoyed a delicious dinner that included: cold cuts and appetizers as a starter, cheese fondue as a main, and chocolate fruit fondue as a dessert. All the cheeses were imported from Switzerland and the fondue was as the original recipe indicates: a careful mix of Gruyère, Emmental, and Appenzeller.

Once the dinner was over, there was still time for a funny moment. Mariano, the restaurant’s owner, challenged everybody to take a chance and blow the Alphorn, the swiss3millenary Swiss musical instrument. The members of the Swiss Club were the firsts to accept the proposal… Laughs and funny cries accompanied the ceremony and only a few of them succeeded. It is really difficult to blow this horn and it requires a lot of practice. Later, some Mexican students tried and at the end some 15 people did it.

It was already 11:45 pm and time to go back home arrived. It was Thursday and everybody had classes on Friday. So one by one all the students abandoned the restaurant very happy because of the amazing dinner but also sad at the same time because such a joyful moment was over.
