15843287925_ac799ee17c_oIE Publishing and Campus Life office would like to thank our students for their commitment with the environment and their collaboration with the initiative 100 Empresas por los Bosques.

Last Saturday 15th November 35 students of different IE master programs donated €18,000 to the project 100 Empresas por los Bosques, environmental initiative run by the NGO WWF, which consists on the reforestation of an area within Doñana National Park. The students had the opportunity to get actively involved by planting 115 trees with their own hands.
This project began two years ago when IE’s Publishing department launched Print On Demand (POD) initiative aimed at all IE master programs that had an associated campaign of corporate social responsibility. The goal was to introduce the paperless philosophy into the school along with related energy and paper saving, in line with IE’s commitment with society and the environment.  All the proceeds 15817431716_b8e30c0c92_ooriginated from the POD will be donated this year to the reforestation of 6 hectares of National Park with native forest tree species.

Student volunteers talk about the field trip:

“The Doñana experience is a true example of what the IE Experience represents: challenges, teamwork, extraordinary people and TONS of fun” Karla La Gant, IMBA April 2014

“Donana was an amazing experience! It was great to see the impact that IE and the initiatives that it promotes is having on the community and greater world.” Howard Gregory, IMBA November 2013

“For me, it simply had all of the components to be an amazing trip. The people, the involvement with nature, the beauty of Doñana, and of course a great night of Classic Sevillana dancing! More over, the joy of seeing our trees grow healthy and tall one day, is priceless.”  Shant Kajian Sangochian, Master in Management 2014

“After months of highlighting cases and textbooks, printing of large reports and drinking wine, it was so rewarding to spend a day with WWF planting cork trees in an endangered habitat. WWF is an organization very close to my heart as it gives voice to 15817414856_c8740a1c41_othose who do not have it, and it was another great step for me towards a lifetime of supporting its mission.” Anastasia Valerieva Mcvicker, IMBA April 2014

“The weekend trip to Doñana was hands down one of the highlights of the IE experience for me. The National Park itself and El Rocio, where we stayed overnight, were amazing places which I might never have gone to on my own. I’m delighted to have experienced it, thanks to IE. Some of the highlights included witnessing a beautiful village life which is preserved in its old style, participating in a traditional Flamingo dance party with pilgrims who were visiting for the weekend, tree plantation in the park together with WWF staff and a guided tour of the beautiful city of Seville during a brief stopover. A big thank you to the Campus Life team for organizing such an amazing trip” Jamil Ur Rehman, IMBA April 2014
