14451161814_7898675a5a_k June 12th 2014 was a special day, not only because it was the World Cup opening but also because IE Business School celebrated the 9th edition of Global Village. IE Net Impact Chapter, IE and 29 different Country Clubs hosted the biggest event of the year at the IE Library garden.

Global Village is a fair organized by IE students in collaboration with the school’s administrative team whose aim is to showcase the diversity that thrives on campus everyday by having food, performances and arts and crafts in the same place for all the attendees to enjoy. The event was attended by around 650 visitors including students from all programs, partners, families and spectators.

Spectacular performances were held by different countries including dances performed by Lebanon, Peru, USA, Colombia, Brazil, Japan, China, and Mexico. Other countries like Germany and Azerbaijan were hosting competitions that were mentally and physically challenging.

14452288065_595bf46822_hIE Global Village Team and IE Net Impact Chapter would like to extend their gratitude to sponsoring Embassies, organizations and companies that supported the efforts of all our students to showcase their national heritage and pride. We would also like to thank all the students and staff members who volunteered to help organizing such an amazing event. Last but not least, we would like to thank all country clubs who participated in creating such a diversified and entertaining event.

We are grateful for all the students, partners and families that attended Global Village and we hope that everyone enjoyed their time at such a memorable day.

Madrid, July 24th 2013. The Women in Business (WIB) Club and IE Centre for Diversity celebrated the opening of the WIB Mentoring Program on 24 July 2013. The event introduced a prestigious opportunity open to all IE students especially women, to be mentored by a business leader in Madrid.

9406450095_fb281d829e_oThe event was opened by the Australian Ambassador to Spain, Jane Hardy, who presented the key note speech on mentoring, its benefits and her mentoring experiences. IBM´s Executive Director of Marketing, Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility for Spain, Portugal, Greece and Israel, Ana García-Oliveros, and Board Member of technological, financial and industrial companies, Indalecio Gil, gave a panel discussion on different types of mentoring and how to maximise value from a mentoring relationship. Director of the IE Centre for Diversity in Global Management Celia de Anca moderated the discussion. WIB President, Karla Guerrero, then presented the WIB Mentoring Program to attendees. The event was attended by several mentors, former mentees of the program and over 40 students interested in the WIB Mentoring Program from a broad cross section of IE´s Masters programs. Participants socialised following the presentations and met the mentors at a cocktail event hosted by the IE Centre for Diversity.

9409203902_5d728abb2d_oApplications for the WIB Mentoring Program has now closed. We are now assessing the best mentees who will represent not just themselves, but WIB and IE. Successful applicants will be required to meet with their mentor at least once a month, keep a journal to track their mentoring progress and attend WIB/ IE Centre for Diversity events every few months to monitor the program´s progress and allow mentees to network with each other. Successful applicants are expected to meet these commitments and maintain the mentoring relationship for the duration of their masters program. If you are interested in the WIB club or being mentored by a leader in the Madrid business community at a future date, then please contact us at the FB Event Page, WIB Page or Centre for Diversity Page (see below).
