Madrid, July 24th 2013. The Women in Business (WIB) Club and IE Centre for Diversity celebrated the opening of the WIB Mentoring Program on 24 July 2013. The event introduced a prestigious opportunity open to all IE students especially women, to be mentored by a business leader in Madrid.
The event was opened by the Australian Ambassador to Spain, Jane Hardy, who presented the key note speech on mentoring, its benefits and her mentoring experiences. IBM´s Executive Director of Marketing, Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility for Spain, Portugal, Greece and Israel, Ana García-Oliveros, and Board Member of technological, financial and industrial companies, Indalecio Gil, gave a panel discussion on different types of mentoring and how to maximise value from a mentoring relationship. Director of the IE Centre for Diversity in Global Management Celia de Anca moderated the discussion. WIB President, Karla Guerrero, then presented the WIB Mentoring Program to attendees. The event was attended by several mentors, former mentees of the program and over 40 students interested in the WIB Mentoring Program from a broad cross section of IE´s Masters programs. Participants socialised following the presentations and met the mentors at a cocktail event hosted by the IE Centre for Diversity.
Applications for the WIB Mentoring Program has now closed. We are now assessing the best mentees who will represent not just themselves, but WIB and IE. Successful applicants will be required to meet with their mentor at least once a month, keep a journal to track their mentoring progress and attend WIB/ IE Centre for Diversity events every few months to monitor the program´s progress and allow mentees to network with each other. Successful applicants are expected to meet these commitments and maintain the mentoring relationship for the duration of their masters program. If you are interested in the WIB club or being mentored by a leader in the Madrid business community at a future date, then please contact us at the FB Event Page, WIB Page or Centre for Diversity Page (see below).
