October 18, 2013. Madrid, Spain – IE Operations Management Club has organized an event with Antonio Andrés, Business Process Optimization & Account Manager, DHL- Supply Chain to present the Lean management and Continuous Improvement techniques in logistics services business.
Antonio explained the evolution of the continuous improvement practices at the DHL World of supply chain and logistics. He also explained us “The need to focus on process improvement and integration of First Choice in the organization as First Choice is a continuous improvement process that applies to all levels of management, processes and all employees of the group”. He also explained the practical application of the full DMAIC cycle (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) as part of the continuous improvement process.
Later on, the customized tool to track the continuous improvement initiatives at DHL has also been explained in detail to illustrate how defects are minimized by the operations team using the Bottom up approach. Antonio also shared his valuable insights on the various case studies on the application of lean techniques at Ontígola. This includes the Unilever case study where Antonio explained the Root Cause analysis, error minimization, Process optimization, and Layout definition. Following this, the improvements achieved as result of Lean implementation has been shown to make the audience to understand the importance of Linking Business Objectives with targets on team level.

Antonio has vast experience in the domain of Supply Chain, Process optimization and Possesses 10+ years of professional experience with DHL in Iberia where he is Responsible for process optimization and account management, being part of the Direction Committee of Retail. He also manages all continuous improvement initiatives assuring they are making under DMAIC methodology and also in charge of implement the Lean Thinking and Management in all Retail´s sites.
