The IE Squash Club represents one of the strongest Business School squash teams in Europe, winning the MBAT in Paris, 2014. The IE Squash Club hosts weekly training sessions for players of all levels at the Sports Club Chamartin metro station either on Sat or Sun from 12-2 pm.
Training sessions are always fun, with new players joining every week. The players are split into 2 groups depending on experience and after a short session of practice drills, 3-4 practice matches are held for each player. This allows them not only to develop their technique, but also work on their agility and mental strength. With state of the art glass courts, the club coordinators are able to watch the players as they play, and offer them advice on improving their game. Some of the beginners picked up the game at tremendous speed and started organizing their own training sessions as well.
The IE Squash Club is very diverse with players from USA, Germany, the Middle East, India, Spain and England. Each of these players has different levels of experience in playing squash, but they always have something new to teach you. Interacting with your team members can be one of the fastest ways for beginners to quickly up some pro-techniques, and this is strongly encouraged at IE Squash Club. We meet regularly after sessions for tapas and beer. It is a good way to network with other IE students as well, with students from the MBA, IMBA, MIM and MIF programs coming regularly.
The women’s Squash Team at IE is exceptionally strong, with many of them winning at various Business School tournaments throughout Europe. Many of them even beat the Boy’s Team players; something we don’t like to admit too often.
All students are encouraged to join the IE Squash Club or even just attend one of our weekly sessions to see if you are interested. Its always fun, and you get me meet a few new people.
