Chinese companies now are trying to find their own way to shift the brand into a better image when they try to expand internationally. As one of the best Chinese based multinational companies and one of the biggest players in the telecommunication industry, ZTE has been performing stable and progressive in abroad.
In July, our IE China Club had the great honor to have a special guest speaker from ZTE Europe, Mr. Xiao Ming, the president of ZTE Europe, to make an amazing lecture in IE Campus, addressing the topic of how Chinese companies deal with the dynamic international business environment during their expansions. Therefore, students at IE will have a closer look into the Chinese companies’ cultures, and get a deeper insight of the industry. Mr. Xiao has 13 years of oversea career in telecommunication business, so his panoramic vision of the global economy and business would be very beneficial for us.
The lecture started with the brief introduction of Mr. Xiao himself, and some personal experience of how he managed his professional career. Followed up by understandable industry brief, Mr. Xiao introduced us how the telecommunication companies work in general, and he talked about several real cases about the ZTE Company’s entrance to different markets, such as European countries and African countries, where they applied totally different strategies. After the lecture, Mr. Xiao considerately spent half an hour to do the Q&A with the participators at the lecture for their passionate and endless questions. After the lecture, on behalf of the ZTE Europe, Mr. Xiao commented highly to the students of IE Business School, and expressed the intention of keeping this kind of cooperation with our IE Business School and IE China Club. Therefore, we will definitely bring more educational events like this to the community.
