The last quarter of 2014 has been quite dynamic for the IE India Club, which hosted two major events during this time, the annual Diwali party and a conference by Sam Pitroda which was also co-hosted by Campus life. The combination of these two events creates a good social and educational balance in the club’s activities.
Diwali, one of the most important Indian festivals, signifies the victory of good over evil and 300 people joined for the huge celebration and had a feast of traditional Indian cuisine! The event started with a prayer to Goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati and to Lord Ganesha. This was followed by the party’s highlight which were the dances performed by a group of IE students. No one could resist the lure of the Bollywood beats and the dance floor was packed through the whole evening. By the end of the evening every one present at the party mastered at least a couple Bollywood dance moves and were immensely enjoying dancing to the tunes of Bollywood! Prizes were also given to the ‘Best dressed’ and ‘Best dancing couple’.
Mr. Sam Pitroda, was an advisor to the former Indian Prime Minister on Public Information, Infrastructure and Innovation. The conference was very enlightening as he took us through his journey so far and he also shared his insights on topics such as mobile technology and partnering with India 2020. Thereafter, students got a chance to interact with him during the networking cocktail where the discussion ranged from politics to entrepreneurship.
