Recap: Mexico Club’s Activities in 2016

2016 has been a very active year so far for IE’s Mexico Club. Not only were the mariachis, fake moustaches and big hats a huge success during the party we hosted at Teatro Barceló last April 8th, but we also managed to put together two conferences with very interesting guest speakers. So before the club’s April members head off on their post-MBA lives, here’s a quick recap on what happened so far this year.

Investment Opportunities in Mexico with Ambassador Roberta Lajous

To kick the year off we hosted the Mexican Ambassador to Spain, Ms. Robert Lajous. Ms. Lajous is a distinguished member of the Mexican Foreign Service, a seasoned diplomat that has served numerous important posts including ambassador to Austria, Cuba, the UN, and former advisor to the UN Secretary General for the 1005 World Conference on Women. Accompanying her was the head of Promexico in Spain, Ximena Caraza-Campos. Promexico is a government organism tasked with promoted international trade and investment to Mexico. Also present was the dean of IE University, Mr. Santiago Íñiguez.

He had the pleasure to invite three executive experts in Family Wealth Management; Daniel de Fernando, Inés Andrade, and Julia Tellez. They discussed topics around the effect of economic volatility in Latin America, the relevance of global diversification in the family portfolio and how a family office can equip you to achieve the smooth succession of your financial estate.

After the roundtable, we had hosted a unique network event with the speakers and the students.

IE Mexico Club will continue organizing this type of events that drives not only the empowerment of Mexicans at IE but also, to show the Mexican culture to all IE community.
