Diversity is certainly one of IE’s core strengths. And every year, the IE community celebrates this through the Global Village, an event where students and faculty members collaborate through music, food, arts and crafts, and various performances.

On June 9, 2016, through the partnership of Net Impact and Campus Life, #IEGlobalVillage16 took place in the MM31 courtyard._MA_2314 This year’s celebration was comprised of 22 vibrantly decorated booths organized by several student organizations. From IEOut to various geographic clubs, we had students who proudly showcased their culture by preparing scrumptious food that participants patiently lined up for._MA_2374_MA_2203

Despite the 30+ degree weather, some students wore thick layers of clothing to display their country’s national costume. The event was even more enjoyable as non-stop performances took place, and approximately 500 participants were entertained by Random Error (faculty band), the IE Music Club, Michelle Raymond, and Trust the Curve (IMBAs from January ’16), to name a few.

The crowd was serenaded by the Mexicans and Taiwanese performers, while the Greeks, Lebanese, and Africans (from various countries) invited everyone to dance and party with them on stage. To close the event, the Brazilians invited professional capoeira performers who showed the art of music, dance, and acrobatics._MA_2790

Thanks to all the participants, the event raised over €6,000 which will go towards the Social Responsibility Forum, an event that aims to increase the awareness of students regarding important and exciting topics associated with sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility.
