La Taquiza

Written on December 20, 2017 by Campus Life in Geographic, Social

During the month of September Mexico suffered two major earthquakes, the first one on September 7 with a magnitude of 8.2 affecting mainly the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca and the second on September 19 (31 years after the fateful earthquake of 19 September 1985) which damaged the states of Puebla, Morelos, and Mexico City.

When we heard the tragic news, we worried about our loved ones, at the beginning it was difficult to contact them and know they were well. As soon as more news arrived, we realized the magnitude of the tragedy and each minute that passed increased the sadness and the impotence of not being in Mexico and helping those affected by the earthquake.

From the abovementioned, it was that the IE Mexico Club and all our Mexican IMBA colleagues decided to organize a series of events with the aim of raising the largest amount of funds and use them to help the victims of earthquakes and focusing efforts on the reconstruction of the affected areas.

Being one of the most important events “La Taquiza” in which we managed to raise more than 800 euros which will be used for the reconstruction of the affected areas of Puebla, Morelos and Mexico City.

To organize “La Taquiza” we have the support of several Mexicans, especially the IMBA and MIM of the January 2017 intake who supported donating sodas, waters, beers or cash. In addition, we must thank Las Mañanitas because without their support this great event could not have been carried out. During the event, we offered beers, water, soft drinks for two euros and a plate with three tacos beans and rice for the amount of 6 euros.

As a Mexican, I will always be grateful to all the IE Family who participated in the event, showing their support, solidarity and good wishes, which confirms once again the great solidarity that exists within the IE Community. After all the support received in this difficult stage of the IMBA I know that the IE Community is a great family, that always supports you in difficult moments.

Finally, in the Annex to this document, we can see some photos of the event that show the great support of this great IE Family.
