Chinese Banquet by IE China Club

Written on July 26, 2013 by Campus Life in Geographic

Chinese banquetThe Chinese Banquet was a grand IE gathering organized by IE China Club and initiated by our club coordinators.  The banquet was held at one of the best Chinese restaurants in Madrid, El Bund. A set of more than a dozen courses were served including Peking Duck, Shrimps Beefs and all kinds of delicious Chinese meals were just overwhelming according to the attending guests, our fellow IE students.

Our efforts had achieved a group offer of an attractive price and around 80 people in total came to this banquet. During the event we had the exclusive use of the secret garden of the mentioned restaurant, and similar activities initiated by IE China Club coordinators had been wildly popular among all IE programs. Our objective is to bridge the gap between different cultures via gourmet experience, which is a quite efficient and simple way to enhance our friendship among different nationalities.

Such activities will be continued with more creativity and choice in order to offer a better experience for our IE community. Last but not least, gastronomy is just the starting point, but the objective is to achieve cultural understanding.

1008339_10200637027743113_131813590_oWords has it that every year there would be a new book published saying that China’s economy is going to sink but actucally there have already been more than a dozen or so in the market while Chinese Economy is still growing.

Such comments just came from the conference deliverd by Mr.Howard Davis, Dean of Hong Kong’s Polytecnic University and a brilliant professor who just walked the “Camino de Santiago” before he came to Maria de Molina 31 to share with about 50 IE students his insights on Hongkong’s Economy on June 24th, 2013. The event turned out to quite a vivid conversation and the feedback of the attending students had been overwhelming. Mr.Howard Davis’s humorous lecture style and abundant knowledge made the the speech very useful for background filling on the whole subject of Hon Kong’s Economy, actucally, a lecture like this is worth a fortune, because Mr.Davis only does it for Senior Business classes back in his university, so basically the attendants had the luck to save 1 plane-ticket to Hongkong.

The event was a part of the lecture series that IE China Club is planning to bring on IE Campus and it’s an effort of trying to build outside class contents that are in line with one of the world’s most heated topics – Chinese market. More is to be continued as IE China Club is working on arranging to repeat the success, so interested students please widen your eyes and register when our next bomb comes out!
