“Walk With Us” campaign

Written on July 27, 2017 by Campus Life in Social

Thanks to the support of the IE community who contributed to our efforts to raise funds for the “Walk With Us” campaign, which included a pizza and drinks sale in June. Together, we have raised and donated US$500 to contribute to this amazing cause in South Africa.

Walk With Us is an effort initiated by Tom David and Warren Handley, two young South African men who became sensible to a cause and now want to raise awareness, so that no vulnerable children will ever walk alone. Their cause: abandoned children with ECD and orphans. They have decided to walk 6,000 km by foot from Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, all the way to Johannesburg in South Africa. All of this with a budget below the poverty line of US$2 per day, to raise funds that will be donated to the cause that has guided their hearts along the way.

International Down Syndrome Day

Written on July 27, 2017 by Campus Life in Social

The IE Charity Club celebrated International Down Syndrome Day on the 21st of March by hosting a bake sale on campus to raise funds for the Fundación Reina de Quito, a non-profit organization that has a center in which 150 poor children with Down Syndrome receive daily therapy and additional aid for their families. We were successful and we were able to raise approximately €300 which were punctually used to purchase educational material for the children on March 30 of this same year. We received great support from Do Eat as they donated various croissants, breads and goodies that we sold at our bake sale. To raise awareness and respect for this special day we collected pictures of our community members holding a sign which read “Mi Dia Va Por Ti”, translated to “My Day goes for you” to support the foundation’s social media awareness campaign which occurs every 21st of March. We want to thank the entire community for their support in this event, like in all of the events that the IE Charity Club held during the year!

On Oct-15 th the IE Charity Club organized to gather as much IE backpacks as we could.

As the IMBA was about to finish too many IMBA students approched in order to give us the idea of donating the backpacks.

At the end we gather more than 15 backpacks which were donated to this Foundation giving social reputation to the Instituto de Empresa Business School by doing good for the most needed paople.

IE Charity Club Capea with Soñar Despierto

Written on July 18, 2014 by Campus Life in Other Activities, Social

capea beneficaOn may 28 we organized a Capea along with Soñar Despierto an organization that contributes with kids in shelters. Soñar Despierto has been organizing for a long time ago this type of events to raise money for creating a summer camp for this kids.

It was a rainy day, but still everything went out perfectly, we had everything planed out so no matter what happened people could enjoy the different activities planned for that date. Many students from MBA, MIF and MIM attended our event. We all had lots of fun enjoying a barbaque,
drinks and nice entertainment. We can’t forget to mention that we even had the opportunity to network with people outside from IE, so we got to meet new people and interact with IE students doing different programs.

The venue was organized in a way that everyone that attended could enjoy a nice meal, drinks, a dance party and also going in with the bulls and playing with them.

We raised twice the amount of money we were planning, thanks a lot to those of you who supported this activity and helped us and Soñar Despierto with this nice event.
