IE VS Sonseca Cricket Club

photo 1Last Sunday, IE played its first home of Madrid League’15 match against Sonseca Cricket Club.

IE won the toss and elected to ball first. Batting first, the Sonseca cricket club managed to post a very good score on board, with their innings culminating at 231 for 9 in 40 overs. It was a complete team effort with top 3 batsman scoring more than 30 runs and later Javeed scoring a quick 46 runs this helped the team to put a huge total on board. Mridul of IE did a very good job with ball as he took the first 5-wicket haul of Madrid League’15.

Following the target, IE started well in initial two overs but after that fall of two photo 2quick wickets changed the entire scenario. Later, middle order wasn’t able to cope up with pressure of huge target and the entire team collapsed in 32nd over making only 175 runs on board.

IE lost its first match of the Madrid League and will be looking forward to win its next match against Madrid United on 31st May and continue to be on the top of league table.

cricketOn a cloudy morning, Vignesh won the toss for IE and looking to make use of the conditions elected to bowl first. The bowlers backed up the decision and had MCC 3 down for only 37 runs on the board. Sumon, coming in at number 5 for MCC, rescued the team with a belligerent innings of 84 that contained 5 sixes and 8 boundaries. Helped with a 42 not out from Krishna, MCC ended with a competitive total of 218/9 off the 40 overs. Joel, Anshul and Ankit took 2 wickets each. IE started off the chase strongly. Uzair and Siddhant shared an opening stand of 52 runs. Once the stand was broken Vignesh and Mohit chipped in with 42 runs and 33 runs respectively. After fall of 3 quick wickets in the middle order Shaun took it up to himself to play till the end and take the team to victory. He finished with 37 not out hitting the winning boundary in the 39th over. For his match winning innings and steady bowling, Shaun was declared man of the match.

Man of the Match: Shaun Andrady Result: IE won by 4 wickets with 1.1 overs to spare. 



11165883_10155458191095367_2145547771_nManan Poddar won the toss for IE and elected to Bat first, Our Batsman were not able to perform upto mark and our top batting order collapsed but later Ankit & Joel made sure that we put enough runs on board and their performance helped the team to put a target of 149 in 40 overs for Triskels.

Second innings was one of the best performance by IE. All the bowlers took responsibility and leaded the team from front. It was an excellent team effort on the field, complimented by great bowling by our bowlers, with a special mention of Ankit, Rama & Sid for excellent bowling as we bowled out the Triskel Tav. in 28th over, letting them make only 76 runs. We won the first ECCL league match and this win had put us on the top of the table.

11173633_10206207097916548_2107916928_nWe also like to extend our special thanks to Our Alumni Mr. Rama Chandra Rao Jupali (IMBA’12) and Mr. Jospeph Thomas (Phd. Student), as they show up at last moment and helped the team while 2 of our player was not able to make it to the match on Saturday.

Our team is highly encouraged and motivated and is very well looking forward to next match against Madrid Cricket Club on 25th April. #GoIE #IEvsMCC

IE Cricket Club wins against Madrid Cricket Club!

10952017_10153209996517783_964633857_nWe are happy to announce that the IE Cricket Club, that has recently registered to Spain Cricket League, has won its first game against Madrid Cricket Club in Sonseca on Sunday, March 8. It was their first match and the team won it for IE!!

Aniket Srivastava, the President of the IE Cricket Club shared his impressions with Campus Life:

Manan Poddar won the toss for IE and elected to field first, as we restricted the opposition at 135/8 in 20 overs.
It was an excellent team effort on the field, complimented by great bowling by our bowlers, with a special mention of Joel & Ankit for excellent bowling, who were very well supported by other bowlers from different end. Following the target, our opening order collapsed and we lost 2 wickets within first few overs, but then a great batting by Vignesh who anchored the innings making 40 runs, as we successfully chased the target by 19th over making 139/8 and winning our first game 🙂
