Written on February 17, 2017 by Campus Life in Geographic, Social

This Pre-Christmas dinner was thought to enjoy the best Italian food tradition and promote networking between IE Business School students.

The event was held in Pizzeria Reginella (Calle de Modesto Lafuente n. 76, near Nuevos Ministerios Metro station), where the entire restaurant was booked for the club and the Student who decided to come and enjoy this wonderfull cuisine.
The Buffet Menu consisted of the following dishes: Italian Burrata and Mozzarella di Bufala tasting; Prosciutto crudo di Parma and Salami; Bruschette; Chef’s Pizza selection from Neapolitan tradition; Bread & Two drinks (soft drinks, beer or wine).

The experience and the restaurant were great, and we all had a wonderful time while enjoying some of the best food from Italy!

Global Village 2016

Written on July 15, 2016 by Campus Life in Geographic

_MA_2248Global Village 2016, on June 9th, has been a great experience, both for coordinators, Club members and the students who joined it! This yearly event, as the name itself evokes, is the recreation of a village market composed by any nationality stand providing typical food and folklore activities (maybe you can’t find all the nationalities and cultures of the world, but small size countries can have the loudest voice on stage, it’s all up to the willingness and the engagement of the Club members!).

Italy Club provided 5 kg of fresh typical mozzarella cheese types: smoked, di bufala and fresh bocconcini. We offered it on a stick with a cherry tomato and a cracker! Not only, it was a sunny and hot day, but nobody could resist from tasting a little piece of home made Lasagna or Parmigiana, a Sicilian dish made with aubergines, mozzarella cheese, Parmigiano and tomato sauce. A real délice!! Italy club’s board has tried also to make other students taste the famous Chili from Calabria but only two brave students tried it!!  The organisation of the entire day went smoothly, each coordinator had his or her own tasks, for logistics and PR especially, but we always helped each others in any occasions! The most remarkable thing? Serving food cut with scissors and a served with a tiny plastic fork because… we didn’t think about the cutlery to serve!!! And of course, we went around to check and try other stands dishes, enjoyed the folkloric shows and have fun!! Great initiative and great participation from students!!

Be a coordinator of IE Italy Club Madrid Chapter

Written on July 15, 2016 by Campus Life in Geographic

At the beginning of October 2015 I have started my experience at IE taking part of the MVDM (Master in Visual and Digital Media). Since I’ve heard about the opportunity to contribute actively to IE life, I immediately submitted my application to become a coordinator of the Italy Club. Italy is my country of birth, the one in which I grow up but left 6 years ago to study and work abroad.

Now, the accademic year is over, classes are over, but I am part of a very close community of students and workers:  Italy Club is efficiently organized and Club activities are not only linked to Madrid campus; Italy Club Alumni in Madrid or in Italy are always in touch with the current board and take part actively to any initiative with enthusiasm. During the whole year, we organized formal and informal meetings, always driven by the objective to let other nationalities students discover the Italian culture and most reputated industries from gastronomy to textile and manufacture.

Said so, I really recommend to future students to be part of a club, no matter which kind of club! Or, if you have a passion and you want to share it, create your own one! I am convinced that this experience will extremely enrich your experience at IE!! If you don’t believe me, try!!

Italian Dinner – Because#tastematters

Written on May 26, 2015 by Campus Life in Geographic, Social

italy clubOn 10th of February 2015 IE Italy Club – Madrid Chapter organized an Italian dinner at “Grazie Mille” restaurant close to the marvelous Plaza Mayor. The event was held by Andrea Larcan, Luca Amadei ,Valerio Cifola, Tommaso Fraccaroli Francesco Bufalari  and Andrea Coppola as coordinators of the IE Italy Club. This event was attended by 50 IE student coming from all around the world.

The menu proposed to our guest was a real Italian taste experience, through diverse dishes rigorously prepared following the regional Italian recipes. The event started with the unavoidable “aperitivo italiano” which included typical food from the region of Lazio and Puglia such as Porchetta(roasted pork) and Provola  cheese  while as a starter Carpaccio with CastelMagno cheese typically  from the region of Piemonte. The aperitivo was served with Prosecco from Valdobiadene, typical sparkling white wine from the region of Veneto.

The first dish served, Gnocchi 5 cheese gnocchi with truffle and “Fiocchi del contadino“ (handmade stuffed pasta with cheese, pear&honey) was a selection of pasta typically from the region of Lombardia.

The second course served was the most famous Italian dish around the world, “la Pizza” that was personalized by the chef Vincenzo Marino by using different combinations of toppings. The dinner terminated with “I cannoli siciliani”, handmade Sicilian dessert with ricotta cheese.

The guests really appreciated the dishes and the convivial atmosphere that contributed to create an incredible opportunity for networking and promoting Italian culture. In fact conviviality for the IE Italy Club is the key factor to foster exchange of ideas, personal points of view with friends and -why not- know each other tasting good food and wine.

We joined the Italy club as soon as we entered my MBA in April 2014 and it was an amazing experience.

The club had just been created by Andrea Coppola and Marco Tumbiolo and we spent the first period to support them in the implementation of events such as Global Village and Italian Dinner.

We will not talk too much about this part, because Andrea and Marco has already done that, previously.

In November 2014 Andrea Larcan was part of the IE crew (Andrea Coppola, Marco Tumbiolo, Tommaso Romanelli, Daniela Terziotti, Laura Comunello and Filippo del Grosso), which attended the NOVA conference in London.

The event was a clear success in terms of quality of the discussions, and job and networking opportunities. When we took over the management of the club in December 2014, after Andrea Coppola and Marco Tumbiolo graduation, we pursued with conviction the objective of IE MBA Italian students into the NOVA circle. The process was complex and we enjoyed the strong support of new students such as Tommaso Fraccaroli, Francesco Bufalari, and Valerio Cifola, with a special boost from Andrea Coppola, now in his new role as IE country manager for Italy, San Marino, Citta’ del Vaticano, Croatia and Slovenia. The admission request which is now ready to be submitted to NOVA board.

In terms of events, in December 2014, the club organized a ‘Panettone Fundraising’: the club collected a Christmas charity contribution for SIB (Societa´ Italiana Beneficenza), offering the contributors a slice of ‘panettone’ (an Italian seasonal cake) and some beverages.

The initiative attracted the interest of the IE students and promoted the Italian culture among the IE community, besides the charity fund raising.

In 2015 the club organized several other events: an Italian dinner at ‘Grazie Mille’ where people from all nationalities enjoyed the excellence of Italian food.

Other initiatives did not go through, such as trip to let people know a unique event such as the “Salone del Mobile” during Design Week in Milan. The initial idea was to create a bridge between current students and Alumni. Unfortunately, besides all our efforts, the accommodation arrangements resulted more difficult than expected.

We are sure that now the new board with the special support of Andrea Coppola will manage to implement those and other initiatives in the near future for the new students and for the IE Alumni network in order to tighten the bonds between them.

We thank everybody for their contribution during our period at the head of the club and we wish all the best to all the new club coordinators Danilo Melle, Pietro Comito and Mauro Di Benedetto.
