The IE Sailing club goes beyond just your life at IE, it is a place where bonds are built, networks are made and just like your education it stays with you for life. A club that connects not only all the different schools at IE but also the different generations…the incoming students, the current students and the Alumni. It also gives you an opportunity to meet diverse people from other top business schools. The sailing community welcomes you with open arms.

RSM MBA Regatta 2018 takes place in Porto, Portugal, from August 30th to September 2nd.
Porto is one of the oldest European centers, and its historical core was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. Good weather, good wind and with the Red Bull Air Race taking place in Oporto in the same weekend, get ready for 4 days of pure adrenaline and excitement!!

SDA Bocconi MBA Conference & Regatta 2018 takes place in San Margherita, Italy, from September 27th to 30th.
One of the oldest and most sought after Regattas in the MBA league is held at San Margherita, one of the most scenic places in Italy. Close to Portofino, a UNESCO world heritage site, the port boasts a great food and tourist scene.

Who says you can’t create a sailing club in Madrid?

IE Masters program started a sailing club roughly ten years ago, and has been traveling and competing ever since! Having the IE community be extremely diverse culturally and professionally enables students to learn from each other in all aspects. More so, as a competitive sailor myself and a passion for the ocean I wanted to start a sailing club for the undergraduate program.

IE sailing club became the first club to become integrated with the masters, undergraduate and alumni programs. This provides an incredible opportunity for members to meet, network and sail with almost all ages and backgrounds.

A large number of MBA schools have a sailing club and host an annual sailing event such as Bocconi hosting the Rolex Cup in Portofino, Italy, London Business school in Athens, Greece, and last but not least IE University in Lanzarote, Canary Islands. All events consist a weekend of sailing, networking and partying in the unique location! The advantage of these regattas is that members from little to lots of experience can attend, which creates more of a learning and teaching experience for everyone.

The IE Sailing Club Winter Regatta has been hosting the event for six years now and this year we had 100 people attend from 11 different schools! Participants stayed at the four-star hotel Costa Calero in the heart of the volcanic island. The weekend consisted of two days of sailing following a pool party and a tasty dinner all provided by the sailing club.

Every year all club members attend up to five events per year all over Europe! In addition, we host practice events in El Pantano San Juan with other universities in Madrid. In the end of September, the IE Sailing club once again gathered together IE current students and alumni from all parts of the world to join the final event of the MBA Regatta season in Europe – the Rolex MBA Conference and Regatta 2017. In the beautiful Liguria region, at the port of Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino, during three days 400 participants, from 20+ business schools, sailed, networked and enjoyed the Italian coast. That weekend was the first touch with sailing for many of the participants and as usual for MBA sailing events skilled sailors willingly shared their knowledge and experience, hence many novices fell in love with sailing forever. Sailing gathers an extraordinary crowd of people who sail, smile and party to cater for an unforgettable experience, and this regatta was no exception. It was an excellent opportunity to accomplish three things simultaneously – practice or learn about sailing; meet alumni and current students both from IE and some of the other 20 business schools and enjoy the marine lifestyle and exclusive locations of the Rolex MBA Regatta. The IE Sailing Club celebrated the 5th year of the IE Winter Regatta in Lanzarote, with temperatures reaching the 30ºC! This year the number of participants increase almost 100%, from 50 to 95 participants. Four European top business schools participated in this year’s edition: LBS, INSEAD, RSM and IE! Many beginners had the chance to try for the first time this incredible sport  that promotes team building and can be practiced at any age. Definitely it was a weekend to remember and repeat once again in 2018!! A big thank you to our sponsors: Campus Life, Global Alumni Relations and Hotel Costa Calero!

The IE Sailing Club wants to thank all the people who were able to attend the IE Sailing Club Welcome Party at Callejon de Serrano last Friday 13th of January! It was an amazing night, the Club was Sold Out!!! And we were all able to do some networking while having fun with our classmates
