Know anything about Spanish wine? Tempranillo or MencÃa? Rioja or Extremadura? Crianza or Reserva?
On Wednesday, 27 April, the IE Wine, Spirits, and Food Club in collaboration with Crossing Exports, founded by IE Master’s of International Management Alumni ’15, Fidel Sanchez, hosted an exclusive guided wine-tasting with a professional sommelier with 7 boutique Spanish wines. The Wine Tasting of the Year was an exciting event held at the Paper Pavilion with over 50 in attendance. The sommelier explained the differences between the soils, growing seasons, varietals, and wine-making practices. Participants learned about different Spanish wine regions, as well as how to pair the wines with an assortment of regional cold meats and cheeses. Boutique vineyards featured during the event included:
- Marcelino
- Viña Vella
- AbadÃa da Cova
- Lar do Ricobao
- Viña Vella
- Javier Sanz Viticultor
As reflected in WSF Club mission, the Wine Tasting of the year aimed to increase knowledge and appreciation of wine, viticulture, and wine-making within the IE community, as well as establish ties with local wineries and entrepreneurs. In the following months, the WSF Club is looking forward to hosting jamón tastings and olive oil tastings.
